slow yoga plan

The world may feel like it’s spinning out of control, but you don’t have to. Anchor into your breath. Slow your pace so that you can remain clear.

- Hania Khuri-Trapper

Vinyasa flow combined with holistic hatha yoga and evidence based practices combine in low impact practice to support rest, conservation of energy and digestion through tending to yourself with care and attention, and the community experience of practicing together promotes interpersonal healing (rest, digest, tend and befriend) through connection and community.

Unhurry. Decelerate from the day's pace. Come home to your breath, your movement and your self through yoga. Slow yoga emphasizes experiencing over accomplishing and provides the foundation for a sustainable and deeply personal lifelong yoga practice.

Flowing unhurriedly from pose to pose provides an opportunity to experience your body's reaction to form over time, to experience taking up space freely, and to listen to your inner voice. Slowing the pace of your yoga practice invites the parasympathetic nervous system to come back online improving resting heart rate and reducing stress.

But what about the times when it's hard to be around humans? The times of confusion, sadness, despair, hurt? It can be hard to pull ourselves up, to roll out of bed or off the sofa, to leave the house and walk into something less private. I understand. I do. Alight Ashram is the space between, the place for small and private group practice together from wherever you feel safe - even if that means keeping your camera off for an entire session. In Slow Yoga we approach one another with love and care. Join us for an opportunity to be met where you are, as you are.
