I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.

Breast Cancer. The diagnosis itself can create a distress so profound that she experiences not only breast cancer but also PTSD.

Breast Cancer Treatment. The acts of battling a frequently invisible threat can compound on themselves with other traumas and profound distress so that the warrior experiences CPTSD.

Agency and autonomy are prioritized in this four week class series. For instance, any participant who wishes to practice with their camera off is encouraged to do so. Some may begin class and find that staying present and still is the only practice they need; no one will be called out or questioned for staying physically still, nor will anyone be asked to demonstrate for the class. There are small but deliberate changes in vocabulary, yoga teaching practices and the use of instrumental music that differ from most traditional Western Hatha Yoga classes. Intentional delivery compliments the development of new skills and new pathways for healing the hurts we can't see but so deeply feel.

Breast Cancer Recovery In Action and Alight Ashram have partnered to provide economical, evidence based Trauma Informed Yoga classes that encourage a sense of safety and autonomy for practitioners who have experienced complex trauma. This class is offered as a collaborative venture between Alight Ashram and Breast Cancer Recovery in Action in an effort to support Breast Cancer Survivors, Thrivers and those who have been impacted by their loved one's battle.

Coming together is, in itself, a healing act. Breast Cancer takes it toll on everyone who is touched by it. Invite someone special to share your session and come together in practice and spirit. Sessions include: 25 minutes of Trauma Informed Yoga provided by a Pink Ribbon Certified RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher).

The Alight Ashram RYT Guide will receive a small payment for their specialized instruction. All additional funds collected will be gifted to Breast Cancer Recovery In Action.
